Ok so, I had this blog all ready to go in my mind as an alternative to the traditional wedding florals and for the most part, I have stuck to that. But I have gone that little bit further as I have decided that I really wanted to show you all how to create maximum impact for a lot less effort than you might think.
As a stylist, I have an obsession with all sorts of different themes, styles, colours and designs. However, what I have found the most challenging, is the ability to pare it back and keep things simple - as this is THE MOST important skill of a talented stylist. Over the years and seeing more and more designs come together, I have always found myself loving the minimalist style. I have found that often doing that little bit less with a design or having just 2 contrasting colours or too many details can create the most beautiful and high impact design that would WOW any crowd.
Getting back to the florals part of this Blog...so there is no denying it - florals can be very expensive - and don't get me wrong, florals are AMAZING and I will always love using them! I guess what I really wanted to offer is the option and the ability of any modern bride to use greenery as a stunning alternative to expensive blooms if your budget cannot stretch it. As some of the images show, it is also super easy to include some really cool design ideas all by yourself if you are up to the challenge! Candles are a biggy! Candles can create the most gorgeous romantic mood and work beautifully with beautiful greenery or a complete alternative altogether. I am currently doing a very special wedding where the bride and I have decided to go bush and collect a bunch of eucalyptus for her table runners (her floral theme is traditional Australian Natives of course!) I can't wait to put it all together and I will update you with pics!
Don't be afraid to think outside the box on this one if you are trying to find a way to cut down on the big ticket expenses - it IS possible and if done right, the results are often beautiful.
Until next time
